Biography
Mr. Pichadze is held in the highest esteem by the musical world. He has garnered great international press acclaim and has earned the respect of the artistic community in and around Boston, Israel and the former Soviet Union.
Mr. Pichadze is described as an artist and educator with unique communicative gifts and an orchestra conductor of extraordinary ability, which has been demonstrated by sustained international acclaim. His performance, characterized as an unusual, moving and a memorable experience, is the direct result of his very rare ability to communicate to an audience at a concert, the superb architecture and varying subtleties within the music, causing the music to be the main experience.
Through his exceptional musical talents and entrepreneurial skills, Mr. Pichadze has enriched the cultural life of the larger community and the lives of many students, musicians and audiences both young and old.
A native of Tbilisi, Georgia (former soviet republic), Mr. Pichadze was the founder and music director of "Acton Chamber Orchestra" and “Concerto Ensemble”. Members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra were among the distinguished guests and soloists who have collaborated with maestro Pichadze and the orchestra.
Mr. Pichadze has also conducted and worked with the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra, New England Philharmonic, New Hampshire Philharmonic, Newton Symphony, Longy Youth Symphony, Just In Time Composers, Brookline Symphony (assistant conductor) and Goettinger Symphonie Orchester in Germany.
In addition to his activities as an orchestra conductor, David Pichadze has also been active with the introduction, performance and advancement of a little known musical heritage, namely; Georgian a cappella music.
He was the artistic director of "Iveria" for 4 years - an all male a cappella interpreting the ancient Georgian folk and liturgical music. During that time the group has performed at many venues in a number of states, universities, cable TV, college and public radio stations.
One of the most memorable events for Mr. Pichadze was hosting the "Rustavi Ensemble" (world's best known Georgian men's choral group) and collaborating in a series of live radio performances (WGBH, Boston Performances, Richard Knisley - host), public concerts and training workshops.
Mr. Pichadze has also appeared on WGBH Radio; "Boston Performances" - Richard Knisley/host, "Caravan" - Ellen Kushner/host, WCRB, Newton cable TV, Voice of Israel (Georgian language), Georgian national TV, Georgian public radio.
Mr. Pichadze began playing the piano at the age of 5 and shortly after started performing in public. At age 14 he became a faculty member at the "Even-Yehuda Conservatory of Music" in Israel, teaching piano and music theory. He has been teaching professionally ever since, conducting private lessons as well as educational programs in many schools and communities. Students of Mr. Pichadze have performed with chamber and symphony orchestras and won concerto competitions.
Mr. Pichadze studied conducting with Maestro Charles Bruck at the Pierre Monteux school for advanced conductors in Hancock, Maine, USA. Other conducting teachers and coaches include: Gustav Meier, Murray Sidlin, Jorge Mester, Pascal Verrot, Jeffrey Rink, Ronald Knudsen, Michael Jinbo and David Callahan.
Mr. Pichadze is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston, Film Scoring major (BA).
